Abstract
Intellectual Property is a tool to reach and develop the economy, in a narrow sense
towards the creator or inventor himself, and in a broad sense to improve the country's
economy as a source of foreign exchange. As an example, one that has the potential to be
developed in the current era of the creative economy is works of art. The results of this
study show that copyright protection for songwriters who are hijacked by other parties
means that creators and copyright holders have rights to a creation, namely moral rights
and economic rights. This right is special or special, because it is only owned by the
creator and copyright holder of his work. As well as efforts that can be taken for
songwriters in overcoming piracy on social media is by registering their creations with
the Directorate General of Intellectual Property.
