Abstrak

This study aims to determine the customs in Merangin in general, so that the concept at a glance here is correct only to see the customary law order from the baseline or the operation of customary law and customary communities in Merangin Regency, using normative studies, with historical and sociological approaches. Based on this, the following discussion was obtained. Sentences in the Merangin custom or known as kato-kato (words), can be used as the basis for the foundation of customary law in Merangin district, these kato-kato are not just words, what is meant here is that there is a word heirloom, said. agree, the first word of depati, and the word that follows is the word to be sought. The word heirloom is a word that has been determined inviolability, and must be held firmly, and put in its place, and must adhere to the tradition of syarak jointed, syarak with the jointed script of Allah. The essence of adat in Merangin is still adhering to the principles, namely customary teachings with Raso, Pariso, Malu, and Sopan. And regarding decisions in adat regarding customary penalties or imposing customary law on someone who is considered guilty, it must go through a customary process or deliberation according to the level.
