The Influence of Teachers' Perceptions of Principal's Leadership and Supervision on Teacher's Work Motivation

Abstract
This study aims to determine and analyze the extent to which (1) the influence of the principal's leadership on the supervision of the principal, (2) the effect of principal supervision on teacher work motivation and (3) the effect of leadership and supervision of the principal on teacher work motivation. This type of research is descriptive and associative. The population in this study were all high school teachers in Batusangkar, totaling 165 people. The sampling technique was Stratified Proportional Random Sampling with a total sample of 54 people. The data analysis technique is descriptive analysis, classical assumption test: normality test and homogeneity test, model test, path analysis, and hypothesis testing using t test. The results showed that (1) There was a significant and positive influence of leadership on the work motivation of high school teachers in Batusangkar. (2) There is a significant and positive effect of supervision on the work motivation of Batusangkar High School teachers. (3) There is a significant and positive influence of leadership and supervision on the work motivation of high school teachers in Batusangkar. Based on the research results above, it is suggested to the Tanah Datar District Education Office to improve the leadership and supervision of school principals by providing trainings in order to increase teacher work motivation so that education can be improved.
