Patterns of Customary Law in the Oral Tradition of Jambi Traditional Proverbs

Abstract
This study aims to reveal the pattern of customary law in the oral tradition of Jambi proverbs. The nature and pattern of customary law arise and integrate in the lives of community. Therefore, the law will only be effective with the culture and pattern of the community. This research uses qualitative approach and descriptive method. The validity of the data uses triangulation of sources and theories developed by Soepomo and other experts. Based the results of the study, it was found that the legal pattern in the oral tradition of proverbs is Jambi covering the pattern of togetherness. In community life, togetherness implies tolerance and concern for other community members. The pattern of deliberation and consensus in making a decision from the problem carried out by negotiation to reach consensus. Traditional patterns and visual patterns illustrate that in carrying out actions in community, references must be seen that have been carried out for generations. The decision taken must be clear and tangible, transparent and open and all members can accept and implement the results decision. It is hoped that the results of the study can be used as input material to examine more deeply with more varied and accurate data.
