Abstract
Research was about improving the ability to read and understand the content of news texts using The Learning Cell learning model for class VIII students at SMP Negeri One Roof 5 Merangin in the academic year. 2021/2022 is important to do. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). According to Arikunto (2009:3) Classroom Action Research (PTK) is a form of research that is reflective in nature, by carrying out certain actions in order to improve classroom learning in a more professional manner. The location of this research is One Roof 5 Merangin State Middle School,ANGKAt District, Merangin Regency. The research was carried out in January 2022, even semester. The object of the research is basic competency (KD). Finding the main problem from various news stories on the same topic through extensive reading. Based on the results of research conducted on class VIII students at SMPN One Roof 5 Merangin for the 2021/2022 academic year, there is a process of increasing students' reading comprehension skills in Indonesian language lessons. The use of The Learning Cell learning model can improve the ability to read and understand news texts in class VIII of SMP N Satu Atap 5 Merangin. Student learning outcomes increased from an average of 42.85 to 70.35 and the second cycle increased to 83.21. Class completion increased from cycle I to 5 students who completed or 35.71% and cycle II increased to 12 students who completed or 85.71%. Student activity increased from 62% to 95%.
